Dental Implants are a great solution to replace one or multiple missing teeth. The dental implant can function just like a natural tooth, improving ability to eat and smile comfortably. Implants are small titanium posts that are surgically placed into the jawbone where the teeth are missing. The bone bonds with the titanium, acting as a tooth root substitute. Here are some of the reasons you should request an appointment with Midtown Dental Care in Times Square, Manhattan for dental implants:
There are a variety of dental implant services for patients to choose from based on their specific needs and preferences. Midtown Dental Care offers several dental implant options at our Midtown, NYC office including:
Dental implants are inserted through the gums and into the jawbone. For this reason, a good candidate for dental implants will have strong, healthy, and substantial bone in the jaw and healthy gums. The gums will need to be virtually free of any gum disease as the penetrated gums will need to heal quickly after the procedure. In general, patients with excellent dental hygiene are the best candidates for dental implants.
Dental Implants do not require any special care beyond your normal teeth. You just need to brush and floss your teeth every day and see your dentist every six months.
Dentures are false teeth that require the use of adhesive to stay in place. If adhesive is not used, you risk the tooth coming loose while eating or talking causing embarrassment and an increased risk of infection. That said, dentures may be the better choice for patients with weak jawbone and gums.
Dental implants, on the other hand, are replacement teeth attached directly to the jawbone. With good hygiene, implants can last upwards of twenty years. Implants are often a popular choice for people who only need to replace one or two teeth but can also be a good base for fixing several teeth.
A failed dental implant is when the bone has not grown properly around the post. The mobility of the tooth is indicative of the failure. Oftentimes, the mobility is only visible to the dentist but can grow worse if not properly treated. A failed dental implant can even become loose enough to be felt while eating or seen while talking.
Our Midtown, NYC Dental Implant dentist can fix your broken or failed dental implant. We will most likely order an x-ray and look for bone loss around the metal post of the implant. A failed implant can easily be removed under local anesthesia if the dentist determines a replacement is needed. The area will be gently and thoroughly cleaned. If the bone is strong around the implant, a bone graft is not needed. If there is bone loss, the dentist will place a bone graft to improve the area. Healing can take several months after the grafting procedure. This would be a good time to improve lifestyle habits in order to support the next implant.

It's important to brush and floss regularly, as this can help keep the implant screw in place for life. The crown of your teeth also usually only lasts about 10-15 years before needing replacement due largely from wear & tear.
The dental implant is a great option for those who to replace missing teeth. The procedure itself takes about 1-2 hours, but it will take 3-6 months for implant to and merge with the surrounding bone tissue.
When properly maintained, the implant screw can last a lifetime. This is assumng that you receive regular checkups at least once per six months. The crown however, usually lasts from 10-15 years before needing maintenance performed.
Two or three implants can be placed next to each other in order retain your teeth and replace the need for a traditional bridge. This is done by using an Implant Supported Bridge which uses dental implants as a support instead of natural teeth.
Since dental implants are made out of artificial materials, it is not possible to get a cavity on an implant. However, you still have to maintain regular gum care and oral hygiene around the implant site just like you would for a natural tooth.
If you have had some dental problems and are now missing most or all of your teeth, it is never too late to get implants. You just need an appointment with a doctor who specializes in implant-based treatments before proceeding
Not in the way your naturak teeth feel. That's right, there is no feeling in your new dental implant. All the sensations you feel come from gum tissue surrounding it!
People who have certain medications or habits, such as those that suppress the immune system and severe grinders/clenchizers may not be suitable candidates for dental implants.
